ice cream parlor

Once upon a time Robin O'Neill, author of The Cherry Cookbook and The Weekend Chef, was stranded on the Central Coast of California. The hot, dry Santa Ana wind was blowing and all Robin could think of was a delicious cold and refreshing egg cream. But this was California and no one knew of egg creams. "Is that anything like the raw eggs Sylvester Stallone drank in Rocky?" Leave it to a Californian to bring even severe thirst back to the film industry.

With time on her hands and the relentless wind, Robin began researching soda fountains and ice cream parlors. Soon she had 90 year old books on her desk full of authentic ice cream parlor treats, and slightly later she had a manuscript giving a brief history of ice cream, soda fountains and ice cream parlors as well as many luscious recipes easily prepared at home. From Tin Roof Sundaes to The Floradora to Robin's beloved Egg Creams, there are enough frosty delights to keep everyone satisfied till the snow flies.
